How to Remove or Uninstall a Section

There are two ways to remove a section from your store, and the method you choose depends on whether you want to temporarily hide it or permanently remove its files from your theme.

Method 1: Remove from a Page (Theme Editor)

This method hides the section from a specific page without deleting its files from your theme. The section remains installed and can be re-added to any page at any time.

In Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on your active theme.
Navigate to the page where the section is placed.
In the left sidebar, click on the section you want to remove.
Click the trash icon (delete) that appears in the section controls.
Click Save.

The section is removed from that page. Its files remain in your theme, and it is still visible in My Library.

Use this method if you want to temporarily remove a section from your storefront without losing access to it for future use.

Method 2: Uninstall from the App (My Library)

This method removes the section's files from your theme entirely. Use this if you are certain you no longer want the section on a particular theme.

In the Iconic Sections app, click My Library in the left sidebar.
Go to the Sections tab.
Find the section you want to uninstall.
Click Uninstall (or use the three-dot menu and select Uninstall).
Select the theme to uninstall from.
Confirm the action.

The section files are removed from the selected theme. It will no longer appear in that theme's Theme Editor.

Uninstalling from the app removes the section from a specific theme only. If the same section is installed on other themes, those installations are unaffected.

Uninstalling All Sections at Once

If you want to remove every section from your theme in one action:

Go to My Library.
Click the Uninstall sections button in the top-right corner.
Confirm the action.

All Iconic Sections sections are removed from your current theme at once.

Use this option carefully. It removes all sections from the theme in a single step and cannot be undone without reinstalling each section individually.

What Happens to Your Purchases

Uninstalling a section does not affect your purchase history. If you paid for a section (one-time purchase) or have a Pro subscription, you retain full access to reinstall it at any time from My Library — at no additional charge. Your ownership of a section is permanent and independent of whether it is currently installed on a theme.

Can I reinstall a section after uninstalling it?

Yes. Go to My Library and find the section in the Sections tab. The section remains in your library even after uninstalling from a theme. Click the install option to add it back to any theme at no cost. If it were a one-time purchased section, you still own it and can reinstall it freely.

If I uninstall a section, do I lose my one-time purchase?

No. Your purchase is permanently tied to your store account, not to a specific theme installation. Uninstalling a section removes it from a theme, but you can reinstall it from My Library whenever you want — for free, on any theme, as many times as needed.

Will removing a section affect my store's SEO?

Removing a section from a page will remove whatever content that section was displaying — such as text, headings, or structured data. If that content was contributing to your page's search ranking, its removal could have a small impact. For sections that contain important on-page content (like an FAQ or testimonials section with keyword-rich text), consider whether it is worth keeping the content before removing the section. Purely decorative sections like banners or dividers have minimal SEO impact.
