Preview Sections Before Purchasing

Not sure if a section is right for your store? The Try Section feature lets you preview any section live on your store before committing to a purchase. You get to see exactly how it looks and behaves in your actual theme — not just a generic demo — at no cost.

How Try Before You Buy Works

When you use the Try Section feature, Iconic Sections installs a preview version of the section onto a development theme (a non-published copy of your theme). The preview opens automatically in the Shopify Theme Editor so you can interact with it straight away.

Your live, published storefront is never affected — visitors to your store cannot see the preview, and nothing changes on your live site until you choose to purchase and install the section there.

What You Need

You need at least one development theme (also called a duplicate or unpublished theme) in your Shopify account. If you only have your published live theme, create a duplicate first:

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Find your active theme and click the three-dot menu.

  3. Click Duplicate — this creates an unpublished copy instantly.

That duplicate is your development theme and will be used for the section preview.

How to Try a Section

  1. Go to the Sections page in the Iconic Sections app.

  2. Click on any section card to open the Section Details pop-up.

  3. Click Try in your theme (or the try/sample option shown in the popup).

  4. The app loads the section onto your development theme and opens the Shopify Theme Editor automatically.

  5. You will land inside the Theme Editor with the section visible — browse its layout, adjust settings, and see how it looks with your store's content.

The try mode version of the section may include a watermark or limitation to indicate it is a preview. These are removed when you purchase and install the full version.

After Previewing

  • If you want to use the section: go back to the Iconic Sections app, open the section details, and click Purchase now (for paid sections) or Add section to any theme (for free sections). Then install it to your published theme through the normal installation flow.

  • If it is not the right fit: simply close the Theme Editor and continue browsing. The preview is removed automatically — nothing is left on your development theme permanently.

Use the Try feature on a few sections before settling on one. Since it costs nothing and does not affect your live store, there is no reason not to preview as many sections as you like.
