Why Is My Section Appearing on Every Page?
You added a section to your store, but now it is showing up on every page — not just the one you intended. This is a common situation, and it is caused by how Shopify handles page templates in the Theme Editor.
Why This Happens
In Shopify, the Theme Editor is used to edit templates — reusable page layouts that multiple pages can share. When you add a section to a template, it appears on every page that uses that template.
For example, the Default Page template is often used by many pages on your store (your About page, your Contact page, your Terms page, etc.). If you add a section while that template is selected, it appears on all of those pages.
This is a Shopify behavior, not specific to Iconic Sections.
How to Check Which Template You Are Editing
When you are in the Theme Editor, look at the page selector at the top of the screen. It shows the name of the current template you are editing (for example, "Default page", "Index", "Collection", "Product", etc.).
If you see "Default page" and you have added a section there, that section will appear on every page using the Default page template.
Fix 1: Add the Section While on the Specific Page
Before adding a section in the Theme Editor, navigate to the exact page where you want it to appear. The Template Editor updates to show only that page's template.
On your live store, go to the specific page you want to add the section to.
While on that page, open the Theme Editor from Shopify admin (or click Customize from Online Store > Themes).
The Theme Editor opens with that specific page's template selected.
Add the section here — it will only apply to the currently selected page if the page has its own unique template.
This works reliably when the page uses a unique template. If the page uses a shared template like "Default page", the section will still appear on all pages using that template. In that case, use Fix 2.
Fix 2: Create a Page-Specific Template
The most reliable way to add a section to only one page is to give that page its own dedicated template.
In the Theme Editor, click the template name at the top to open the template selector.
Click Create template and give it a name (for example, "page.about" for your About page).
Shopify creates a duplicate of the current template with a new name.
Add your section to this new template.
Back in Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Pages and open the page you want.
In the Theme template dropdown on the right, select your new template.
Save the page.
Your section now only appears on that specific page.
Fix 3: Check the Header and Footer
If a section appears on absolutely every page — including the homepage, product pages, and collection pages — it may have been accidentally added to the header or footer sections, which are truly global and appear on every page by design.
Open the Theme Editor.
Check the header and footer sections in the left sidebar.
If your section is listed there, click on it and delete it, then add it again to the correct page template.
